This weekend I have a family reunion and for what little free time I have, this is what I've been listening to and watching. My Gleekness is getting to the point of obsession. And for the record I'm a Finchel fan (Finn/Rachel - the two lead singers).

Saturday was my birthday. As you know I do a Top 5 at Artist Avail, but I didn't want to pick out my own music because I really like surprises. So, I had each of my family members pick out a song for me and tell me why. This is what they came up with:

Reason: Well, would think it would be self evident. The song has most of the qualities that you possess.. (yes you possess so many more... ). However, it illustrates what is required:

•Drive
•Plowing through the BS
... and being that overnight 'sensation' that has been grinding it out for the past
X amount of years.. to be that over-night sensation.
Plus it has the most effective use of BagPipes in a Rock song.. ever.

Reason: This was selected by my mother who told me this was rather difficult since my life was music. She had originally thought of the first song I loved and danced to, "Jump" Van Halen (I was 3.), or "Fat Bottom Girls" by Queen when my phone didn't shut off and I left that song on her machine, or "We Didn't Start the Fire" by Billy Joel because I knew every word and would sing it, loudly. Or any hundreds of songs. She finally chose "Moon River" because her and I love 'Breakfast at Tiffany's' and this song is something we both very much love

My goal to post here everyday Monday through Friday didn't make it this week. However, since it is my birthday week I don't care too much. It has been hectic and great. There have been so many things going on with me, especially personally, and I've been dealing with those.
Meanwhile, I hung out with my friend Kear on Tuesday and her son. She bought me a birthday gift at B&N that I was going to buy then decided against because anymore the idea of spending money makes me sick at the moment. So, on my birthday we're going to play the game, "Oh my goodness, how did you know that was the book I wanted?!?" Giggle, then roll our eyes at ourselves, and laugh some more.
On a completely un-related note, but important to me, the finales for Glee and Justified were AWESOME. That's pretty much all I have to say on the situation.

I loved Family Matters as a kid and this catches up with Steve Urkel himself. And if I didn't think Jaleel White was cool before I do now. Child Stars - this is the guy you want to follow.
I am so into the show Drop Dead Diva, and you can read about this heart warming and amazingly talented show with thisQ&A with the stars. - If you're a Glee fan like myself, I think you'll like this show too.

Meanwhile I've been listening to Glee for the past two days. It is so good, but the song I'm going to have here is "Defying Gravity" which comes from the musical, Wicked. It is time to defy gravity.
Slight exaggeration aside, this would be supremely true this week. Once again another plan has fallen through. It seems we will not be going to dinner for a regular Friday Night dinner time. Due to sick children, out of town plans, and chauffeuring, there is no dinner tonight. I'm, obviously, a little sad. Not to the point where I'm going to spend an entire blog post railing about it, but a good paragraph, and ONLY because this was just the latest in a long week of canceled plans.

Meanwhile, as a kid (and as an adult) a 4-Day Work Week sounds AWESOME! I'm a firm believer that we send our kids to school for too long, for so many reasons. This is an interesting proposition: 4-day school weeks gain popularity across US
So, next week begins my birthday week, which officially begins tomorrow, only 8 days left...yes I do a countdown. Two reasons: 1. I watched 'Sixteen Candles' as a child and it screwed me up for life. 2. I never remember people's birthday's unless it has been ingrained into my mind, which is rare. I know my grandparents, my parents, my sister's, and my best friend's, after that you can forget it. So, to help those like me I tell people.
They say that tomorrow it is suppose to be around the 102 degree mark. Now, I know that it is June, but it usually takes us until the very end of June/beginning of July to reach that kind of heat. Good thing my birthday party is a pool party.
And you'll be happy to know that my Passport photo still remains as the worst photo ever taken of me. EVER. I just wish my DL photo was better. Oh well, I just have to look at it for the next ten years...

So the video I'm leaving with you today is for the song. I've been deep into this folk/rock scene and Mumford and Sons sum that up beautifully. I love their song 'Liar', but this song, "Awake My Soul" has captivated me.

There is an old saying that goes, "Want to hear God laugh? Tell him your plans." I laugh when I hear this and nod my head as one who knows this to be oh so true, but lately I've been feeling this a little more heavily than I would like.
I had plans for Thursday with a friend to go to dinner and walk around. We changed it for today because of some other plans. That's all fine. Well, then we changed where we were going to meet today because a storm is coming in and where we wanted to go was outside. Then, my dear friend called me to tell me her poor little boy was sick, really sick, and she was taking him to the doctor. I totally understand all of this, and although I am disappointed, I'm not upset by any means. But this is only one plan that I've had that has fallen through.
I'm not a go with the flow kinda person. I like to know where we are meeting and when we are meeting. Call me crazy, but I don't think that is too much to know.... except that apparently it has been. What's a girl to do?
I giggle as I write this because it sounds so cliche, but the answer for me is: bake. I had fully planned on getting a lemon bar while I was out there and now that the possibility is gone I need to replace it with something. So, I'm going to go to the store and see what I can come up with. In the mean time I will again make more lemonade, which I found delicious. (1 Cup Water to 1 Cup Sugar to 1 Cup Lemon juice)
Anyway, we will see. Until then, no plans on this end.
I had a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend, and I hope that you did too. I even made my own lemonade and it tasted wonderful. My sister, DeeDee, thought it was sweet, but I have a bigger sweet tooth than she does. Her thing is pickles, which I fully understand, but my favorite is just about anything with sugar.
Meanwhile, I woke up this morning with such a sharp pain in my stomach, turns out it is allergies. How boring and awful! I also had a bruise on my stomach and I have no idea how it got there, it was either from swimming, or it was my dog's paw. To be honest I'm going with the second theory. He gets a little violent sometimes and likes to kick his feet at me to propel himself fruther.
I'm yawning now too... did that make you yawn? No? Lucky. I drank more caffiene this weekend then I normally do in two weeks. So today without any of it I'm having the hardest time staying awake. Not to mention I had a scare this morning, well not a scare, more of a 'here we go again' and not in a pleasant way. I just get so sick of the not good news. I want a lot of good news to come my way, for me. Selfish though that may sound it is the truth.
So, I prayed then on a sheet of paper I wrote out four things that I said were answered even though they hadn't been. One and two were answered today and I'm waiting on three and four. Meanwhile NorthPointe (helmed by Andy Stanley) has a series called The Chase, that is really speaking to me. They just ended a series last week called, Guardrails, that was amazing. Really, good. Meanwhile I need to buy a simming cap to keep my natural blonde hair from turning green because I plan to spend a lot of time in the pool. Great exercise and they say Thursday it is suppose to get up to 99! So, with thoughts of summer I will leave you with this picture, which is part of a series on my wallpapers.
